White Fragility Lesson Plan

Study Objectives

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

  1. 1

    Through writing assignments and discussion, students will be called to think deeply and critically, integrating many different sources of information to develop original, informed opinions, and beliefs about global systemic racism.

  2. 2

    Students will investigate and challenge their own unconscious biases by becoming aware of group socialization, inner sensory experience, and abstract, embedded racist messaging in culture.

  3. 3

    Students will conduct research on books, films, authors, philosophers, and activists to aid in their explorations of anti-racism.
