Winter's Heart Irony

Winter's Heart Irony

The paradox of Rand’s arrest by Counsel

Rand is introduced as a powerful figure capable of channelling power and bringing the world into a balance. Due to his influence and power, Rand al’Thor is nicknamed Dragon Reborn. Paradoxically, despite his power, the five assassins try to kill, but he manages to kill one of them. The reader finds it ironic when the Counsel arrests Rand, an individual depicted as heroic and powerful.

Mat’s detention

Mat is ambushed in Port City and haunted by a monstrous creature called a Gholam. Mat thinks that he is alone, and he plans to escape after his special amulet saves him from the threat of the mysterious creatures. Ironically, Mat is shocked to learn that he is not alone because he must help two Aes Sedai people stuck in the Port City. Similarly, a whole band of people want to be helped escape from captivity.

The irony of power

Two factions are fighting in Andor, seeking to control the country's affairs. Rand leads a group that can channel power to bring balance and harmony. On the contrary, a mysterious faction consists of dangerous creatures that also want to control Andor.
