Part One, Chapter 5
Alex wakes up at seven-thirty that evening, a fact that in retrospect seems ominous to him. Still pretending that he has been ill, he sees his father, who asks him where he goes to work in the evenings (that's what Alex has told him he does). Alex explains that it's odd jobs; his father says he's worried about him because he had an ominous dream of Alex being beaten by other boys.
When Alex leaves his flatblock, he finds his three droogs outside. Georgie has decided to challenge Alex for leadership of their group, claiming it would be more "democratic." He wants their group to commit higher-stakes robberies...
