How comfortable does Frederic seem to be with his "separate peace?"

The winter that Frederic and Catherine spend together is easily the most peaceful part of the novel. The two have found quiet and comfort in Switzerland, and although spring will ultimately bring terrible loss, the winter is a time of optimism. However, Frederic shows signs that he is not entirely comfortable with this idyllic life he and Catherine have created. He admits to the reader that he is unable to fully remove his thoughts from the war, and feels guilty at having escaped from it.
