Students with watch Chimamanda Adichie's TED talk "The Danger of a Single Story" to reconsider their approach to A Long Walk to Water.

Structure:

Begin the activity by asking students what comes to mind when they think of Africa. In particular, ask them what the book has contributed to their opinions/impressions of Africa, and write their responses on the board. When this part of the activity is complete, have them watch Chimamanda Adichie's TED Talk, "The Danger of a Single Story."
