What is this new, "gone" Charles Wallace arguing for, and how does Meg counter it, if unsuccessfully?

Charles Wallace (and the man with red eyes, and, more importantly, IT) is arguing for complete conformity to the point of uniformity. If everyone is the same, no desire can ever contradict another, so everyone, argues Charles Wallace, is happy. Conflict is what causes trouble among beings (presumably, human and other); if everyone thinks exactly the same way, with the same thoughts, no one can be in conflict. Meg tries to counter with an embrace of difference, but it's difficult when she's so often been conflicted over her sense of being "an oddball."
