Done with Love

Laroche tells Orlean in his van that he vowed never to care about fish again, and hasn't stepped foot in the ocean for 17 years. We then see the highlighted pages of Orlean's book which Charlie is reading transitioned into. The imagery shows us how the story made it's way to page, and how Charlie's imagination is now seeing what has been written for him to read.

Spotting Your Flower

Laroche tells Orlean about how insects pollinate flowers, that each flower is made for an insect and that they make love to the flower by pollinating it. And because of this they create the world that is so much bigger than they could have ever imagined. Thus, spotting your flower is so vital you can't let anything get in the way of it. Jonze uses the imagery of bees pollinating flowers and then cuts back to Orlean spotting Laroche. It reveals she has found her flower to pollinate in him.

Protagonist

McKee is heard in a voice-over as Charlie is outside in New York. He's saying, "You cannot have a protagonist without desire, it doesn't making any fucking sense..." We hear this as Charlie is slumped, exhausted and dismayed. The imagery tells us that Charlie is more stuck than ever and his protagonist has no desire.

OK Thanks

Charlie asks McKee how a writer would write about people who don't change, and no one does anything. We see Charlie in the audience and he is highlighted with light just before McKee rips his head off for his question. The imagery shows that Charlie's willingness to go out on a limb and try to find an answer is brave, but turns out to be a mistake, as he's now the target of McKee's viciousness.
