What is the difference between the handwashing facilities at Mrs. Pumphrey’s party and Mr. Atkinson’s farm? What is the difference between their animals? What do these differences illuminate about the contrast between these facilities quite generally?

There’s a major contrast of wealth and poverty between the two. Mrs. Pumphrey offers luxurious soap and a sink and towel, while Mr. Atkinson has only a jagged bucket of icy water with inadequate soap and a rough sack for a towel. Mrs. Pumphrey has a fancy Pekingese dog for companionship, while Mr. Atkinson is a farmer and his animals (in this instance, pigs) are his living.
