Animal Farm Lesson Plan

Relationship to Other Books

• Consider other books that have been written about dystopian societies, such as Fahrenheit 451, Parable of the Sower, Brave New World, A Clockwork Orange, and Orwell’s own 1984.

• Consider other books that deal with the theme of oppression, such as The Handmaid’s Tale, Children of Blood and Bone, The Hunger Games, Lord of the Flies, and Cat's Cradle.

• Consider other stories that use animals to illustrate a moral, such as Aesop’s "The Tortoise and the Hare," "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," and "The Lion and the Mouse." Many of Dr. Seuss’ stories illustrate morals, such as The Lorax, Green Eggs and Ham, and Horton Hears a Who.
