Antony and Cleopatra has some prominent emasculation themes. Antony's failures and losses are constantly being blamed on Cleopatra or her influence. Antony often takes out his anger on Cleopatra - raging at her for being promiscuous, blaming her for his military losses, and accusing her of emasculating him: “O! thy vile lady! She has robb'd me of my sword.” Students should identify other examples of this rhetoric in the text, coming from Antony or otherwise.
