What does the story Granmè Ifé tells mean?

The folktale about the lark may have a variety of interpretations. The lark originally gives the girl a pomegranate for the chance to look at her face. Eventually he gives her two pomegranates so he can kiss her. Finally he wants to take her to a faraway place. He acts sad until she agrees, and only then admits there is a king there who wants her heart. The girl outwits the lark and escapes. This story demonstrates the dangers for young women in society.
