Irony of David
David is a mild-mannered character who lets himself be taken advantage of and pushed around by others. He can’t seem to explain to Susan the misunderstandings they face together, and is irritated by the constant chaotic situation. Nevertheless, at the very end David reveals to Susan that the chaotic day he spent with her was the best day in his life.
Irony of Susan
Susan lets herself be perceived as a dumb, cliché female character, while her actions serve as a proof of her intelligence and perseverance. She manages to trick David to spend time together and help her to bring Baby back to her aunt, all the while playing a clueless and helpless damsel in distress.
Dramatic irony-a dangerous wild leopard mistaken for Baby
Susan and David release a dangerous wild leopard mistaking it for Baby and cluelessly behaving unafraid in front of the very dangerous animal. The viewer is aware that the leopard is not Baby, while the characters are unaware which makes this a situational irony.
Comic irony-Susan’s aunt
Susan’s aunt is also Elizabeth Random, a woman who is supposed to donate a million dollar to David’s work. David discovers this only after he already embarrassed himself in a woman’s négligée, and in their following encounters pretends to be someone else, precisely Mr. Bone, as Susan introduced him. This confusing situation is used for comedic effect which makes this a comic irony.
