Don't Forget the Notes
Kind of Activity:
Long-term Project
Objective:
Students will discuss the significance of endnotes and will keep a journal to explore specific endnotes as they read the book.

Structure:
Begin the activity by having students turn to the Notes section in the back of the book and read the notes that apply to the day's reading. When they are done ask them the following questions in class discussion:
1. What do you usually expect from footnotes or endnotes in a book?
2. In what genres do you usually find...
