Existentialism Is a Humanism Imagery

God

God is presented as a key part of existentialism. Sartre argues that atheists find themselves alone and unable to “depend upon either within or outside himself” because of the lack of belief. Indeed, without God’s own existence, “there disappears with Him all possibility of finding values in an intelligible heaven.”

Man

Man is presented as a different entity to man’s inherent being. The two are not mutually exclusive from the beginning of man’s birth. Sartre portrays man’s existence as a wholly empty experience – at first he is nothing…man exists, turns up, appears on the scene”. Only with experience and actions does man manage to define himself.
