Comparing Three Films

Objective:
Students will watch three different film adaptations of the same scene from the novel, discussing the differences in each interpretation.

Structure:
The teacher should obtain access to three different film versions of Far from the Madding Crowd: 1967 (director John Schlesinger), 1998 (director Nicholas Renton), and 2015 (director Thomas Vinterberg). Next, the teacher should choose one scene that is portrayed in both the films and the novel, for example, the storm scene or the Christmas party scene.
