Hiroshima Lesson Plan

Study Objectives

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

    Students will use a combination of research and evidence from the text to gain an in-depth understanding of the history leading to the first use of the atomic bomb. Students will also understand how Hiroshima was used as a tool to dissuade their future use.

    In both writing and classroom discussion, students will cite textual evidence to support opinions on the meaning of the text, especially as regards its most unusual or controversial aspects. Students should identify how the narrative elements support an ideological or philosophical point.
