Li’l Bit tells Peck, “The way you can undo the hooks through my blouse with one hand…you would make an incredible brain surgeon with the dexterity.” The metaphoric surgeon implies that Peck effortlessly undoes the brassie with a single hand. His sufficiency is comparable to that of a brain surgeon because he does it skillfully.
French Kissing
When Big Papa teases Lil Bit to the degree of annoying her, Peck consoles her: “Your grandfather’s ignorant. And you’ are right-he’s going to die soon. But he’s family. Family is…family.” Li’l Bit responds, “Uh-Huh. So family is another acquired taste, like French kissing?” Li’L Bit’s question underscores her frustration with her family which is attributed to them teasing her due to her breasts. Li’l Bit concludes that the family is dispensable because they contribute to her misery through their incessant teasing.
