Names
Li’l Bit explains, "In most families, relatives get names like "junior," or "Brother," or "Bubba." In my family, if we call someone "Big papa, “ it’s not because he’s tall. In my family, folks tend to get nicknamed for their genitalia. Uncle Peck, for example. My mama’s adage was “the tit-less wonder,” and my cousin Bobby got branded for life as "B.B." Manifestly, names in Li’l Bit’s family allude to the nature of one’s sexual organs. Accordingly, it is easy to discern the nature of the organs based on the nick name that is assigned.
Kittens and Cats
Peck tells Li’l Bet, “That you are. Going on eighteen. Kittens will turn into cats." Peck makes this rejoinder after Li’l Bit insists that she is a grown girl and so he should not call her Li’l Bit. The kittens are allegorical of childhood whereas the cats are emblematic of adulthood. Transforming from a kitten to a cat indicates that Li’l bit is of age and has lost her innocence, for she is having intimate moments with Peck.
