However, Cara notes that he cheated on her countless times. In this instance of dramatic irony, Ricardo is set off by an action he himself has committed on numerous occasions.
Alicia's Prediction Comes True (Situational Irony)
Alicia the psychic's predictions about Cara's future end up coming true, as she does end up receiving a check and does sit by the water with someone. This is surprising because Alicia's services are likely part of a fraudulent online scam to get people to pay for online fortune telling. In this instance of situational irony, the reader understands that while Alicia ended up essentially being correct about Cara's future this time, she cannot actually predict the future.
Alexis Helps Cara Find Fernando (Dramatic Irony)
Alexis, Fernando's boyfriend, ends up being the one who helps Cara get back in touch with Fernando. Alexis does this despite Cara's early issues with Fernando's sexual identity. In this instance of dramatic irony, Cara ends up receiving an incredibly meaningful favor from someone whose relationship to her son she initially objected to.
