Hunting by Stars Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Residential schools

Residential schools symbolize exploitation. The Indigenous people are afraid of taking their children to residential schools. The residential schools work closely with the government to capture Indigenous children. After capturing the indigenous children, they hand them over to the government so that their bone marrow can be harvested for medical experiments.

The government

The government is a symbol of oppression. The government is against the indigenous people from the North. The Indigenous people are the possible targets for the government's medical experiments. According to Frenchie (the main character), the government killed all his family members.

Vigilantism

The children's aggression symbolizes vigilantism. The children want to destroy the government and other people responsible for climate change. The characters in this series are young, hardened kids who would like to have a better future. However, these children are disappointed by the government's ignorance and reluctance to preserve the environment. Therefore, the children are thinking of a possible revolution against the environment and destroying anybody who comes their way.
