Caligula is sent to talk to the Guardsmen and find out which captain, after Sejanus, has the most influence among the men. This man, Macro, is then given a letter to be delivered to Sejanus. Macro delivers this letter in front of a battalion of Guards, and tells Sejanus that he is to be made Protector of the People, a high honor. Sejanus, elated, rushes to the Senate House. Marco takes control of the Guards telling them he has been appointed General in place of Sejanus.
