Trauma

When Adam, now Rob is young, he goes missing alongside three of his friends. He is the only one to be found in the forest. He spends his entire life trying to recall that night but can’t remember anything at all. This informs his choices as he becomes a murder detective. A case similar to his experience as a young boy comes up, and he finds it unbearable because it keeps unearthing feelings of torment and terror. The only person he shares his traumatic past with is Cassie, her partner. They have a complicated relationship that neither one is willing to pursue until it’s too late. As Rob investigates the death of Katy, they discover that her older sister Rosalind is a psychopath. They had been living in an abusive home. Their father would frequently abuse them sexually which further fueled her psychopathic personality.

Violence

When Adam was found, his shoes were filled with blood. Whatever happened that night was so gruesome that his mind completely locked that part of his memory for good. Violence becomes a part of his life forever as he becomes a murder detective. As he investigates different murder cases, he discovers that Katy was murdered in a tiny shed in the woods. Rosalind hated her sister, so she decides to poison her. It is hinted that Rosalind has had the taste of blood, and she will kill again.
