Welcome Home
Alan is welcomed, finally, into his father's home in California. Ironically, his dad has him go to work full-time on top of school which results in nearly no time for them to be together.
Acussation
Penny tells Ronnie that Douglas came on to her sexually in the dark room and she is leaving to live with Rose. Ironically, Ronnie defends Douglas and tells Penny that she is overreacting.
Marriage
Carol says that she is going to marry her boyfriend and she is willing to hold out from having sex with him. Ironically, she dies in a car accident with a guy who isn't her boyfriend. She chooses to go out with another young man while she knows she is committed to her boyfriend.
Kicked Out
Douglas kicks Alan out of his house. Ironically, young Jack runs up to Alan and tells him he doesn't want him to go. He doesn't get the love he wants from his father, but does from the young boy.
Sex
Alan has been a very good kid throughout the story, with the exception of skipping days at the plant. Ironically, Douglas gets on him less about skipping school than about skipping work, and even more so he is enraged because he hasn't slept with any girls since he's been in California--this being the reason he kicks him out of his house, because he believes his son is gay.
