What does Orestes mean when he says "A man speaks to another man with confidence and reveals his meaning with clarity" (Lines 665-666)?
Orestes says this when he is explaining to the servant who answers the palace door that he wants to speak to Aegisthus. He means that he will not be able to speak to a woman as well as he would be able to speak to a man because women make things less clear. Though this kind of sentiment isn't inconsistent with the rest of the sentiments expressed about women, it does seem to also be a ploy to get Aegisthus to the door instead of Clytaemnestra, since the plan was to kill him first. Orestes likely still believes this, though.
