Peace is ruinous for Mother Courage--why?
Mother Courage has made a bet on war's indefinite presence, buying new supplies to support the effort. With no war, no one will buy her wares. Students should explore this contradiction and consider the other characters in the play. Do they wish for peace? Does war define them?
