Two of the exercises in this lesson plan involve films--the 1997 adaptation of Mrs. Dalloway and the 2002 film The Hours, which was inspired in part by the book. These films are used to initiate discussion and activities around the question of how adaptation forces certain aspects of a story to manifest themselves in new and different ways. Both of the relevant clips can be found on YouTube or DVD, so you will need find the appropriate device to screen it for those classes (the first and third).
Two of the exercises involve presentations which may, if you choose, include performance or mixed media elements. These elements are not, however, essential to the lesson plan.
