Fernanda does not fit at all with the Buendía family. Some members of the family, like Amaranta, are openly hostile to Fernanda. Fernanda’s customs, backwards habits, and troubles in her marriage prevent her from fitting in in Macondo. This says just as much about the Buendía family as it does Fernanda.
