The novel opens with the protagonist, Harri, an eleven-year-old Ghanaian immigrant, checking out a murder scene with his friend, Jordan. The two young boys observe the scene, though they do not fully understand the gravity of the situation. Harri was acquainted with the boy who was killed and is affected by his death.
