Plot + Theme Analysis
Kind of Activity:
Group Work
Objective:
Students will analyze the plot and themes of in the novel
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.2, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.3
Structure:
Ask the class to create a definition for 'theme' and offer a few common examples. Theme: a central idea, message, or lesson present in a given work. Common themes include love, death, and good vs. evil.
Break the students into small groups and explain that they will be analyzing different parts of the novel in preparation for their final analysis of the themes present in Rabbit, Run.
