    Kind of Activity:

    Role Play

    Objective:

    Students will act out a brief scene from any day of reading.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.6

    Structure:

    Having studied more than half of Richard II, students will now have the opportunity to act out one of their favorite scenes.

    First, initiate a brief discussion with the students about the difference between reading a play and reading a novel. A play was not intended primarily to be read like a book is; it was intended to be read by actors and then performed for an audience. Students need to engage with this dimension of the text.
