Why is Wilhelm interested in Tamkin's method of investment? What does this tell us about his state of mind?
Dr. Tamkin encourages - and convinces - Wilhelm to invest his money in the commodities market in a particular way. He claims that if you knew someone at a "good Wall Street house" you could make short-term purchases and thus negate the risk of investment. Dr. Tamkin's explanation of the process is very suspicious - not only does it sound illegal, but it is also incredibly simplistic and implausible.
