    Defending Stay True

    Kind of Activity:

    Individual Writing

    Objective:

    Students will consider and clearly communicate the enriching qualities of the book in its defense from being banned.

    Structure:

    For this activity, present the hypothetical situation in that members of the community are calling for Stay True to be banned from schools. As a class, students will speculate as to why these community members are calling for the ban. In other words, what about the book might make certain people want to ban it? Throughout the discussion, make a list on the Smartboard of why these people want the book banned.

    Now, individually, students will respond to the ban by making videos...
