Answer
Let us take three real numbers a ,b and c ,then they possess the following properties :
1.) the addition of first and second will be equal to the sum of second and first that is the order in which they are written does not matter and the results would be same .
a+b =b+a
this is called commutative rule .
2.) Also a(b+c) =ab +bc , i.e the product of 'a' multiplied by the sum of b and c would equal the sum of product of a and b and product of b and c .This is known as the distributive rule .
3.)The third rule says that the product of a and b is equal to the product of b and a i.e ab =ba .We can say that the order of multiplication does not matter and the result would be the same regardless of the order in which they are multiplied .This is known as the commutative rule of multiplication .
4.) last but not the least the real numbers follow associative rule which is written in the following manner :
(a+b)+c=a+(b+c) i.e the three numbers can be added either ways and the result would still be the same .
Work Step by Step
The real numbers follow the following rules :
1.) commutative rule of addition
2.) distributive rule
3.) commutative rule of multiplication
4.) associative rule
