-4 > -8 The number line is a line with 0 in the middle, all negative numbers on the left and all positive numbers on the right. So when we plot -4 and -8 on the number line, we see that -4 is on the right side of -8 and the number on the right is always greater than the number to its left. So -4 > -8.
