While defining T-ratios for an acute angle in a right angled triangle, the nomenclature among right angle forming sides goes in terms of the "opposite" side and "adjacent" side to that angle. Hypotenuse is always the side opposite to the right angle. Therefore In Figure 8, we would refer to 'a' as the side "opposite" A, and 'b' as the side "adjacent" to A and 'c', obviously is the "hypotenuse".
