Chapter 18 - The Endocrine System - Figure 18.6 - Page 626: 1

Answer

Thyroid hormone suppresses the secretion of TSH by thyrophs, and secretion of TRH by the hypothalamus. Gonadal hormones also feedback negatively to suppress the secretion of FSH and LH, Production of gonadotrophin releasing hormones(GnRH) by the hypothalamus is also inhibited by gonadal hormones.

Work Step by Step

Follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) and Luteinizing hormone(LH) are both secreted by the anterior pituitary(AP). The secretion of these hormone is stimulated by gonadotrophin releasing actor (GrRH). Growth Hormone and TSH are also stimulated by hypothalamic releasing hormones. In addition, the hypothalamus puts out hormones that inhibit/suppress the secretion of STH and of TSH. Gonadal hormones like testosterone, and estrogen also have feedback actions that suppress hormone secretions of gonadotrophins by the AP, and hypothalamic hormones secretion by the hypothalamus.
