Some antibody-antigen complexes formed in cell-mediated immune reactions also have the effect of activating complement #1 (C1). The activation of C1 initiates a chain reaction that leads to the activation of C3. The fragments of C3 initiate phagocytosis , inflammation and cytolysis. IgM and IgG antibodies are involved in these reactions
