Cecum- pouch-like section which absorbs the digestive fluids from the small intestine and where the waste materials pass to the colon. Appendix- found at the bottom of the cecum; believed to be a storehouse of good bacteria that aid in good digestion; may be surgically removed if appendicitis/ inflammation occur Colon- it is where the majority of water absorption occurs and where salt required by the body are absorbed Rectum- found at the end of the large intestine where residual waste accumulates that stretches the rectum; if stretched, signals the urge to defecate Anus- feces exits through the anus which is found at the end of rectum
