The Association of Small Bombs Irony

Absent-mindedness

When Deepa sees that her husband has taken the car without telling her, she angrily thinks that “he was absentminded.” However, it is actually her who in her absent-mindedness is unable to connect the dots so she does not realize that her husband has gone to the blast site to look for his boys.

People of Delhi

After the bomb blast, Mansoor keeps walking through the city in a state of confusion, trying to stop the bleeding on his wrist. Many people see him, but ironically they "intent on gossiping about the tragedy rather than heeding a victim passing before."

Afsheen’s attitude

When Afsheen is reunited with her son, who she thought she had lost in the blast, she says, “We have to go help the Khuranas.” This is ironic because a short time before, she felt so angry at the Khuranas that she said, “They should lose two kids! They should lose everything!”

Shockie’s politeness

While Shockie is waiting at a restaurant for his accomplices to copy a car key, he talks to the owner’s wife in a polite tone. Ironically, he does this “with the exceeding politeness of a man who has just imagined raping you.”

The Hubli faction

Shockie expects the meeting with the Hubli faction to be an important event. However, when he finally arrives at their safe house in the forest, he is utterly disappointed because they lack suitable equipment.
