"It's a funny thing about comin' home. Looks the same, smells the same, feels the same. You'll realize what's changed is you."
Upon returning home to New Orleans Benjamin learns how much he has changed as the result of the life he's lived. He expected everything else to have done so, when in fact home has stayed relatively the same.
"Wait, I want to remember us just as we are now."
Benjamin says this to Daisy just before she tells him she's pregnant. It's a moment he's been waiting for for 49 years, and one he knows is going to fade away sooner that they could imagine.
"Caroline this is Benjamin. You knew him when he was just a baby."
Daisy introduces Caroline to Benjamin as a friend of the family when in fact he is her father. Benjamin has arrived and is, by appearances, much younger than she once remembered him from their last time together.
