Structure:

A theme of The Dutch House is family secrets. In this section, Cyril unexpectedly reveals a few family secrets to Danny: where he lived in Brooklyn, how he met Elna, and who Elna's family members were. Still, a bigger secret gnaws at the back of Danny and Maeve's mind: why did their mother leave them, and where did she go?
