The Epic of Gilgamesh Lesson Plan

About the Author

The authors of this epic poem remain largely anonymous. The latest and most complete version ever found was composed no later than around 600 BCE, and was signed by a Babylonian author who called himself Sin-Leqi-Unninni.

This lesson plan uses the Akkadian version, which is usually the basis of most translations. The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of the earliest known works of literature.
