Why did the Nation of Islam appeal to so many people?
The organization used rhetoric that instilled a sense of pride in blackness and brazenly spoke out against the oppression Black people were being subjected to. Moreover, the organization projected a sense of unity, strength, militarism, and respectability that many were drawn to. This image, and the movement overall, were seen as a powerful united front, something that many thought was necessary to achieve Black liberation.
