There are numerous examples of racism and xenophobia present in the novel, which start to increase in severity toward the end (the Chinese Exclusion Act, Japanese Internment Camps, etc.). Immigration is still a hot topic issue in today's world and in order better understand the situation of immigrants in the United States, the students will investigate and debunk five common myths surrounding immigration.
