Students will connect to the text using different creative exercises

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.9-10.3

Structure:

The students will individually complete a creative writing assignment writing from the perspective of a secondary character from one of the topics below. Other topics may be chosen with the teacher's approval.

1. Write a journal entry from Wong Sek's point of view as he decides to return to China and say goodbye to Liang.

2. Write a journal entry from Franks' perspective following his pivotal fight with Jung.

3. Write a journal entry from Meiying's point of view about her...
