    Letter writing

    Kind of Activity:

    Creative Writing

    Objective:

    Students will write a letter from Victor to another character to display an understanding of characters and themes.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.3, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.11-12.3

    Structure:

    To begin the activity, ask students to name all of the characters they can think of from the stories so far. Write a list on the board. Then, ask students to list all the themes they can think of from the stories. Write that list on the board next to the list of characters.

    Instruct students to work individually to write a letter from Victor to one of the other characters in the book. What would he say...
