Students will research World War II and learn about the effects of teeming military training bases on local populations

Structure:

Review with students what they know about the causes of and fighting during World War II. Students who need to learn more about the war may read a short summary at this website. A more extensive and detailed overview can be found here.

Have students work in groups to locate military training bases in the South during World War II. They may want to download and print out maps of these bases, especially those in and around Alabama.
