Objective:

Students watch an interview with the author and evaluate how what she says has or has not been achieved in this story.

Structure:

Students may work in pairs to watch the online interview conducted with the author, Carson McCullers. The five-minute-long interview is available online at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkDY_NPbkRs&nohtml5=False.

Students should take notes about what the author says about the book and her intentions in writing the book.
