Kind of Activity:
Individual Writing
Objective:
Students will be able to identify and write their own figures of speech.
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.8.4, CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.8.2
Structure:
Students will discuss figures of speech as a class, identify these figures of speech in the text, and then write a few of their own to demonstrate their grasp of the lesson.
Consider running this activity in one session or as an ongoing activity in which students keep a journal for this final section of the reading. In the journal, have students write down a few literary terms, noting the page numbers where these terms seem relevant.
