This Lesson Plan makes use of the W.H.D. Rouse translation of The Republic provided in Penguin Random House's Great Dialogues of Plato. Rouse, a famous and well-respected classicist of the 20th century, is also known for having translated other important texts from ancient Greece, such as Homer's The Iliad and The Odyssey. The book also has the benefit of including a summary of the different sections of The Republic that students can use as reference points. When students are required to read a summary of a book for one of the Days in this Lesson Plan, the "summaries" referenced are the ones contained within this Lesson Plan.
